Hi, my name is Al
So, there I was at the house on Friday, showing it off to our friends Kate and Lu when Al walked up to me and introduced himself. I was amazed and touched and in awe. Suddenly, this moved from being a 'house project' to a potential home. I have been on the move for so many years, country after country, home after home that I can not imagine knowing my 'postie' (Aussie slang), but...here we are. We have met both sets of neighbours- Marty and Nitza, Gabriella and Ken, as well as some other folks who we met 'stooping' (New York slang)down the block. Everyone is so pleased to meet us, and I think relieved that we will clean this place up- well 'clean this place up' is a nice way of saying that the place is a total 'tip' (Aussie slang) inside. I laughed at a story Ken told us. Apparently a couple came to look at the place and she walked out saying 'my imagination is not big enough to deal with this house'...and I know what she means!
We got the website beautifully set up, plus the Facebook page and got one of those 'subscribe' buttons so people will get an email when I do a new blog. There is so much etiquette about this. Do we send to our friends? How many options do we give people to opt in/ opt out? Abel wants everyone we know to be automatically subscribed with an active 'opt out', I want people to choose to opt in, don't want to risk making people irritated with us. Why so bloody (Aussie, South African,British, Kiwi slang) polite ?
I wonder if Al would subscribe?
