We Have Walls
At Last the walls have arrived. This truck took up five houses along the street. It is so big it needed a special permit to be allowed into the city.
So now the walls are all stacked thruout the building. Even the new roof is in pieces on the first floor, taking up a lot of space.
The delays in delivery of the SIPs has all but wiped out the speed advantage of building in SIPs instead of brick and block, but they are very high performance in terms of insulation value.
The exciting thing is that, after a day of sorting and distributing panels, the first floor wall is already installed. The second floor will be completed shortly.
I wrote about the weight of these panels in a previous post. Well two panels, even after having split them down, are still so heavy that they are leaning against the tree on the side of the street. We have a crane booked for today to lift them up onto the top floor.
Its wonderful to watch the workmen, with their laser level getting, these panels absolutely true. Its like Lego on a massive scale.
And so far, they have fitted fine. My measurements were good.
More to come next week.
